A Corrosion Analysis of BetaLED Luminaires
Abstract: An analysis of BetaLED fixtures to determine corrosion resistance of all components exposed to the environment.  This is a continuation of an analysis published in May 2008 that focused exclusively on the painted cast aluminum parts used for BetaLED luminaires. (Read More)

Alloy Test Technical Report

Abstract: The premise of this paper is to show that it is not as advantageous to regulate the use of a specific alloy to control corrosion, as it is to regulate that the combination of alloy and coating meet specified corrosion test requirements.

Therefore, this paper reviews the results of a 5,000 hour salt fog test performed on common die-cast alloys that range in copper content, with various coatings applied. (Read More)

Comparison of LED to Induction Technology

Abstract: This paper compares the current BetaLED and LEDway technology products with those available which utilize induction lamp technology. The comparisons will be done at three levels: Technology, Luminaire and Application. (Read More)

Composition of White LEDs

Abstract: Small amounts of highly purified elemental materials are used in the fabrication of LED and other semiconductor devices. Nitrogen and Oxygen come from the air. Silicon and Carbon come from sand. Aluminum is a ubiquitously mined mineral.

To the extent that any of the materials used in LED fabrication are rare or exotic, Gallium(1), Indium(2), and the phosphor are worth some further discussion. (Read More)
